2. HIRVIKANGAS
Map scale: 1:10000 / 1:15000, 5 m
Mapped: 2014-2015
Mapmaker: Koopiste / Kimmo Viertola
Location: Parking 61°38’08.4″N 24°06’23.1″E / 61.635668, 24.106421 / Hanhilahti 83 (please contact Jukka Westerlund +358 400 332 400 beforehand)
Start 61°38’46.2″N 24°06’29.8″E / 61.646156, 24.108277

The terrain is located 2-3 km from the Viitapohja competition terrain (JWOC Middle distance). The terrain gives an idea of what the middle and long distance terrains are like. South of Viitapohjanraitti, the terrain is divided by deep slopes along brook banks. The slope on the north side is more fragmented, and runnability varies. The runnability in the south side is mostly good in the forestry area and on the higher parts of the hill.
To the north of Viitapohjanraitti the terrain is flatter and more scattered. Runnability varies from good to difficult.
There are several forbidden areas on maps – these are protected areas because there have been sights of a rare butterfly called Melitaea diamina (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melitaea_diamina).
In 2015, a 2-day race Tampere Suunnistus was organized on the Hirvikangas map.

3. AITOVUORI
Map scale: 1:10000, h 5m
Mapped by Apukäyrä
Updated: Spring 2016 (Justus Laitinen)
Location: 61°31’44.7″N 23°58’38.5″E / 61.529094, 23.977366

Close to city terrain, a lot of small tracks and paths, from which some are on map and smaller are not. Many contour details, one bigger slope. Runnability varies from very good to average. Terrain is very good (can be also best) for practising detailed map-reading and running in Tampere-area forests.

4. MAKKARAJÄRVI
Map scale: 1:7500, h 5m. Contour map with blue and cliffs.
Mapped by Apukäyrä
Updated: Spring 2016 (Pekka Ala-Mäyry)
Location: 61°26’06.7″N 23°51’58.5″E / 61.435183, 23.866235

Irregular area of hills separated by small marshes. There are a lot of tracks and paths in terrain, when running on contour map you can use those, but it’s sometimes tricky to understand where these are “going”. However, use of compass and a clear idea of the next target are very important. Runnability varies from good to average. There are a lot of stones and stony areas on a “normal map” but on the contour map those do not disturb readability.

5. PULESJÄRVI
Map scale: 1:10000, h 5 m
Mapped by Apukäyrä
Updated: Spring 2016 (Elo Saue)
Location: 61°36’39.9″N 24°00’09.1″E / 61.611078, 24.002529

Most relevant to the relay terrain, also the “nicest” terrain for trainings. Runnability and visibility vary from very good to good, height differences max 35 m. Lots of small contour details, perfect for practicing the use of compass in a high speed.

6. KORTEJÄRVI
Map scale: 1:10000, h 5 m
Mapped by Apukäyrä
Updated: Spring 2016 (Elo Saue)
Location: 61°35’29.2″N 24°00’19.7″E / 61.591456, 24.005473

Neighborhood terrain to Pulesjärvi, but much flatter. Runnability and visibility vary from very good to good. Lots of small contour details, perfect for practicing the use of compass in a high speed.
