About

JWOC2017.fi is a boldly designed, independent site covering orienteering news, events, athletes, and community stories from around the world.

What We Do

We publish news, analysis, interviews, and commentary about orienteering at all levels — from grassroots club activities to World Championship competition. Our coverage focuses on:

  • Breaking news and federation updates
  • Event previews and recaps without maps or GPS data
  • Athlete profiles and training insights
  • Opinion pieces and editorial commentary
  • Community stories about clubs, initiatives, and innovation

What We Don’t Do

This isn’t an event archive or results database. We don’t host maps, GPS replays, or detailed splits analysis. Instead, we focus on storytelling, journalism, and commentary that puts orienteering news in context.

Why JWOC2017.fi?

The domain name honors the 2017 Junior World Orienteering Championships held in Finland, representing the sport’s future and its Nordic heritage. Though we’re independent of any federation or organizing committee, the name reflects our commitment to covering orienteering with the seriousness and professionalism it deserves.

Editorial Approach

Our coverage is direct, opinionated when appropriate, and designed for readers who care deeply about orienteering. We aim for clear, engaging writing that works whether you’re new to the sport or have decades of experience.

Contact

We welcome story tips, press releases, and feedback. However, we maintain editorial independence in all coverage decisions.
